Police: Mom offers 7-year-old daughter for sex

A 33-year-old woman was arraigned Sunday on charges alleging she offered to let an undercover investigator take pornographic photos of her 7-year-old daughter and have sex with the girl, authorities said. The woman was arrested Friday after taking the girl to a hotel in Romulus, near Detroit Metropolitan Airport, where she had agreed to meet the investigator, the Wayne County sheriff’s department said.

A not guilty plea was entered on behalf of the woman, who wasn’t represented by a lawyer at the arraignment, department spokesman John Roach said. She was held in lieu of $1 million bail, and a preliminary examination was scheduled for April 12.

The high bail is rather surprising. In cases involving female offenders the bail is general set rather low, typically in the $10,000 range. While this woman faces a possible 20 years for attempting to prostitute her daughter along with various other sexual abuse charges, in all likelihood this woman will not serve any jail time outside of what she is serving now. Cases like these, particularly when they involve female offenders, rarely receive the maximum sentence. It is more than possible that thi woman will receive custody of her other children again once released. Of course, that might change as more information comes out. It is highly unlikely that this was the first time this woman sold her daughter and she probably treated her other children in much the same way. If anything, the charge of prostitution will be what gets this woman a high sentence.

What I find surprising is that women like this one have never been caught and presented on shows like To Catch a Predator. Surely they exist, but one must wonder how they manage to evade the law while their male counterparts get caught without effort. The article does not go into any details about how this woman and the undercover investigator began this “negotiation,” but I wonder if this woman initially presented herself as male or if she kept her gender secret.

By far, the worst element of this case is that this woman literally tried to sell her child. In another article it states:

The woman was prepared to offer her daughter “for pornographic photos and anything else that was available if the price was right,” Sheriff Warren Evans said. “She had indicated very clearly that that child would do whatever it was that the person who was going to meet the child wanted to do, and that she would see that the child complied.

Imagine for a moment what must be done to a child to ensure that the child will comply with any sex act performed on them. Please do not avoid it because it is uncomfortable; honestly think about it. Imagine having that act done over and over until the child was desensitized to the pain. Of course, tolerating the pain is not enough. Crying breaks the illusion that the child is a willing participant, so the act must be repeated until the child handles it without bursting into tears.

Imagine this being done for every act.

Think of the most depraved sexual act you can imagine. That is what this child, and probably the other children, was forced to tolerate. When one thinks of the epitome of human depravity, one might be inclined to imagine some man, perhaps a dictator like Hitler or Hussein. Yet often the people most prone to such demonstrations of depravity live right next door. This woman has the perfect guise: a loving mother. To be honest, she will likely use that as her defense and it will probably work for a host reasons, both political and social.

But just think for a moment what it must feel like to be truly objectified, not in some half-assed, politically motivated, college campus rhetorical “explanation,” but in the truest sense of being relegated to something that can be bartered and sold and used however the person who “owns” you sees fit. The affect is worsened by this person being a parent, someone a child should be able to trust without question. This woman violated the most important bond a child will ever have. She has damaged every relationship her children will have, ruined their ability to trust, to love, to feel loved and to even want to be loved.

And I keep saying “this woman” because so many people honestly believe women are incapable of such acts. There is no excuse for what this woman did, though some will try to push her actions off on the father or some man who may have hurt her in the past.

The woman sold her child. Like a thing. What possible justifiable, hell, understandable reason is there for that?

Perhaps this is not a case of the epitome of human depravity. Perhaps it is just the epitome of humanity, narcissism at its finest.

  1. There’s so much not understood about women and sex crimes. Add in the misandry which defines our society and … well, the whole thing is a mess of bad thinking and disinformation.

I follow everything I can get my eyes on which has to do with female sex offenders same with with lone fathers.

Here’s a point at the intersection of the two topics, single mothers are MORE likely to sexually abuse their kids than lone fathers are to sexually abuse theirs. S’truth. I’ve seen that data point in every one of the major child maltreatment reports which included the single parent data. You’d never know it from what makes it to press or discussion.

As for this woman? TS, I expect you’re right, she will get a slap on the wrist and custody of her other children. Sad to say … We live in a society which causes non-reparable damage to kids so that most adults don’t have to think bad of women or good of men. Which is a sick truth and a fair example of human narcissism at its finest.

I think part of that is the reason for it. I also think part of it is that adults view children as theirs, either explicitly as their property or some extension of themselves. They have a hard time treating children as people, let alone as equals, because of the child’s total lack of experience and knowledge. I do not doubt that on some level this woman felt she had a right to do with “her” child whatever she wanted to do. Unfortunately, that sentiment is also supported in our society, this notion of ownership of a person as a result of the person’s age.

Very true. There’s a commneter over at Feminist Critics that sounds a lot like this.

  4. I think the kids should not have sex at all because it could get a child pregnat so kids should never have sex the parents should be in charge if the child said that he-or she have sex the parents have to be paying atenion at the child !!!!!!!!!!!
