Much in the same vein as “This Week in the News,” the Bulletin Board will list news stories and also blog and forum posts. It should be noted at I do not necessarily endorse or support the items linked. I simply find them to be interesting and/or relevant to the issues discussed on this blog. As the weeks go by, each new “volume” will be added to a page link, that way the way easily available without having to do a search or hunt through all my posts (not that I am suggesting not to hunt through the posts).
Alienated by sisters who simply won’t listen — Jackie Hayden is not some caricature bar room boor, after all, but a child of the Sixties, fully signed up to anti-sexist, anti-racist spirit of the time. When he speaks out now against the disintegration of the feminist ideal into bitter sectionalism, it genuinely is more in sorrow than in anger. Will Irish feminists listen to the advice of an old friend any more carefully than they do to those they see as their enemies? It’s doubtful.
Child porn accused: I have issues with gender — A Noosa man caught in possession of more than 66,000 child pornography images has claimed he has gender identity issues which sparked an interest in female genitalia. Steven Lloyd Moulder, 48, pleaded guilty in Maroochydore District Court yesterday to two counts of child exploitation possession. The Sunshine Coast Child Protection Unit executed a search warrant on his Ringtail Creek home in September last year and seized a computer and 15 discs from Mr Moulder.
Convict helped to change life — Like the bulk of the men inside our prisons — estimated to be as high as 80 per cent — Woodcock had mental health and addiction problems that were not addressed. But that all changed in his last 4<<1/2-year stretch. “In the past I’ve reoffended within weeks and been back in trouble and in court, but my life has changed now,” he said.
David Angel gets justice after 46 years of pain — AFTER 46 years of anguish, David Angel finally saw justice today against the teacher who stole his innocence. Mr Angel was one of two young boarders who were sexually abused by the Prince Alfred College teacher in the early 1960s. While Mr Angel has chosen to openly tell his story, The Advertiser cannot name his abuser. The 71-year old’s name is suppressed because he is facing further charges of sex abuse against another boy in the 1960s. The man was today jailed by District Court judge Peter Herriman for three years and one month. He will have to serve at least a year behind bars before being eligible for parole.
Former L.A. priest pleads guilty to sexual abuse of boys — A former priest who figured prominently in the sex abuse scandal that plagued the nation’s largest Roman Catholic archdiocese pleaded guilty Monday to molesting two boys and was sentenced to 10 years in prison. Michael Stephen Baker, 60, was sentenced as part of a plea deal entered in Los Angeles Superior Court.
Man indicted on 99 counts of sex abuse — The indictment charges Michael Rebecca, 50, with 10 counts of predatory criminal sexual assault, 30 counts of criminal sexual assault of a victim between ages 13 and 17, 28 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a victim between ages 13 and 18, and 31 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a victim younger than 13, according to court records.
Man Pleads Guilty to Killing Idaho Boy — A man who murdered the family of two young siblings, then sexually abused the children before killing one of them at a remote Montana campsite, pleaded guilty Monday to federal charges that could lead to his execution. Joseph Edward Duncan III did not make a plea deal with prosecutors and earlier pleaded guilty to state charges. He told the judge he wants to take responsibility for his actions.
Mom convicted of rape out of jail — Jeni Lee Dinkel is out of jail, but the 51-year-old Northern Kentucky woman convicted of raping a 15-year-old boy still faces a lawsuit filed by the boy’s mother. Dinkel, of Villa Hills, wife of former Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Tom Dinkel, was released Saturday from the Kenton County Jail, where she served 60 days as ordered by Kenton Circuit Judge Greg Bartlett.
Roman Catholic Archdiocese Fights Sexual Abuse With a Coloring Book — The Catholic Church has not exactly done a stellar job when it comes to preventing sexual abuse of children by priests, as the numerous and horrifying scandals of past years have demonstrated. Now the Archdiocese of New York is using a new method to show they won’t tolerate pedophile priests–they are, um, sending out coloring books to kids.
Teacher charged with sex abuse — A teacher at a Springfield Gardens middle school allegedly sexually abused a 14-year-old boy in a classroom after school hours offering the boy $20 for oral sex, prosecutors said yesterday. Lalsingh Narainsingh, who taught at I.S. 59 on Ridgedale Street, allegedly lured the boy to an empty classroom in June 2004 by requesting his help cleaning up. Once back in the classroom, Narainsingh, 48, of Queens, allegedly sexually abused the boy, Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said.
The Pedophile’s Secret Code — Every subculture speaks its own dialect, and pedophiles are no exception. Hence the FBI’s January 2007 “intelligence bulletin” on “symbols and logos used by pedophiles to identify sexual preferences.” The document (see Pages 2-4), was prepared and distributed to FBI divisions and field offices earlier this year by the Cyber Division’s Innocent Images National Initiative. These are the G-men and -women who work on cases involving child exploitation and sexual abuse.
