Letourneau hosts ‘Hot for Teacher’ night

It is sick for a person to rape a child. However, it is worse when a child rapist not only profits from raping a child, but also goes to promote it. And that is exactly what convicted pedophile Mary Kay Letourneau has done:

Mary Kay Letourneau and her former sixth-grade student — the father of her two youngest children — are hosting a “Hot for Teacher” night at a Seattle nightclub.

Letourneau, now 47, served 7 1/2 years in prison after she was convicted of raping Vili Fualaau, now 26. They were married four years ago this week.

The bar’s owner said Letourneau has served her sentence, she’s married her former student, and it’s OK for them to have some fun on a Saturday night.

Mike Morris, owner of Fuel Sports Eats & Beats, said this is the third time Letourneau and Fualaau have hosted a “Hot for Teacher” night at the nightclub.

It is sick and disgusting to see anyone hosting an event that essentially condones child rape. It is bad enough that Letourneau was able to manipulate her victim into believing she loves it. But it is far worse that she is flaunting her pedophilia as if it is something to be praised. Mike Morris’ attitude towards this is an excellent of what is wrong with our collective view of female pedophiles. We collectively think it is cute and endearing rather than harmful and reprehensible. If he feels she has served her time why has he not extended the same “Hot for Teacher” event to men convicted of raping their students? His view is based purely on seeing Letourneau’s pedophilia as harmless and her victim “lucky.”

It is absolutely disgusting that this is being done, and has to violate one of the many rules the convicted pedophile is bound under in accordance to her release from prison. Hopefully by this being made public the officials involved in her case will put a stop to this.

  1. I could not agree more. I truly hope that all the various organizations speak up and out about this in a very public manner.

  2. I think the fact that were the genders in this instance reversed, and a male predator was the one trying to cash in on their crime, women’s groups (not just femeists, but ALL of them) would be rising up to put a stop to it (if not actually lynch the male in question), bothers me just as much as what Latoruneau is doing.

Yet, there is nothing like that in the case of Letourneau. It makes a disgusting situation all the more sickening and shows the hypocrasy in so called “gender equality” arguments.

  3. What can we expect in a culture that is comfortable for these instances to be dealt with as entertainment for huge multimedia audiences.

  4. ofcourse this is disgusting but don’t blame feminists for shit like this. Its the patriarchy that high fives young boys for ‘getting some’ from older women. A system feminists have been fighting for ages without any help from you.

What MRAs don’t get is that feminism is not a zero-sum game. Dignity for all?

  5. Feminists are not responsible for creating the myth that female sexual violence against males is harmless or endearing, however, they certainly play a role in perpetuating that myth. “The Patriarchy” is not an entity that can high five boys for “getting lucky.” Feminists, however, are entities that actively fight against efforts to address male victimization, most often by framing such acts as trivial, claiming that they are a rarity and frequently suggesting that speaking about male victimization takes the focus off female, i.e. real, victims. As it is, feminists have done more to aid women like Letourneau than they have done to keep women like her locked up. As for the comment about MRAs, I do not identify as such, so the comment is inapplicable. However, the extent to which feminism comes across as a zero-sum game lies solely in the hands of feminists.

None of this is relevant to the topic at hand though. It is disgusting that anyone would seek to profit from child rape and far worse that a convicted pedophile gets to milk her crimes for her own gain all over again. If the genders were reversed, this would not be tolerated and women’s groups and victim’s advocacy groups would be tripping over themselves to put a stop to it.

  6. Lolita anyone? That ‘classic’ piece of literature extolls male pedophilia more than any stupid theme night at a dive bar could.

Perpetuating the myth by not speaking up against it often enough or actively encouraging it? I don’t think the latter is true. The former however, maybe. A case of having too much on our plates already and being called shrill harpies all the time?

No feminist will stand in your way if you try to fight for male victims of sexual abuse but try not to make male perpetrators look like the victims. (as one of your commenters does above). I think that sentiment is often expressed in these types of arguments and makes most feminists walk away in frustration. What would be wrong if the genders were reversed and women’s groups were banning such a theme night? Are you saying they shouldn’t be? Or are you saying it is their responsibility to ban this as well (most probably would if itwas brought to their attention). I completely fail to see how women’s group fighting against female sexual abuse diminishes your rights in the least.

  7. What, then, should I make of feminist icons doing the same for international TV audiences?

Is Oprah NOT a feminist AND advocate for rape victims? Do her past actions in celebrating these rapists – Letourneau among them – not legitimise this sleazy event?
