I am very bad at keeping updated on information about my favorite artists. I typically do not find out any news until months after the fact. Since many artists release albums years apart, I do not miss many major things (outside of album releases). Unfortunately, during one of those gaps one of my favorite artists passed away. In February he was injured in a car accident and was unable to be revived.
Nujabes (real name, Jun Seba) was a Japanese hip-hop producer and DJ. He worked with many artists from Japan and several from the States. His music was a blend of different styles, particularly jazz and hip-hop. He only released two albums and several compilation albums before he passed. Nujabes may be most famous for his work in the anime series Samurai Champloo, a series set in feudal Japan, but with hip-hop beats as the music.
