Bulletin Board v246

Adolescence: The secret life of boys — I was a cute child, I guess. When I got to school my older cousin took me aside. He said some older boys would come after me—for sex. “That’s how it works,” he said. “It’s dangerous for new boys.” He told me I had to make sure I was never alone. He said, “Don’t go to the toilet alone. Don’t let a senior boy call you out alone.” He told me what places to avoid.

Alabama woman convicted in children sex abuse ring — The conviction Wednesday of an Alabama woman accused of being part of an incestuous sex ring provided graphic evidence about horrendous child molestation, but it didn’t answer a baffling question: What happened to a young victim who is missing and presumed dead? Jurors took two hours to convict Wendy Wood Holland, 35, of sodomy, sexual abuse, sexual torture and child endangerment. She showed no emotion when the verdict was read.

Babysitter Accused Of Raping 10-Year-Old Boy Claims ‘He Forced Himself On Me’ — A babysitter accused of raping a 10-year-old boy is claiming that she was forced into the act. Marybeth Rataic, a 25-year-old Connecticut woman, was said to have had “three or four sexual encounters” with the pre-teen in question, but she shares a different side of the story. According to a report from NBC Connecticut, Rataic claimed that the 10-year-old had a crush on her and “forced himself on her while they were wrestling and tickling each other.”

The hidden and the hunted: Uganda’s war on gay men — There must be no distinguishable markings on the outside of the building. Nothing indicative of what happens within. The room is airless and empty. Michael Bashaija slumps between his boyfriend – an older man named Apollo – and a lawyer, knees wide apart, on a green plastic garden chair that is cracked and worn. The only other furniture in the room is an old, chipped wooden desk, a printer and a cork notice board, at the centre of which a more hopeful soul has made a palm-sized heart out of red pins. It burns like a single poppy in a ploughed field.

Inside the house of horrors: Revealed in chilling detail, how a boy taken to infamous gay brothel gave name of a senior politician he said abused him there to the police – who left the MP’s name OUT of their report — Bedtime at a large Edwardian house in a genteel London suburb. In a room on one of the upper floors, a small boy is taken to a bedroom by a middle-aged woman. The world beyond the curtains is dark and cold. On the common across the street, huge trees rustle and loom scarily. It is not a night to be outside. In the bedroom, the child lies quietly as the woman speaks.

Judge tells religious order to hand over priests’ files to abuse victim — Abuse survivor and campaigner Mark Vincent Healy must be given any files relating to complaints he made about priests by the Holy Ghost Fathers, a court has ruled. Healy is suing the religious order, seeking aggravated damages for five years of sexual assaults against him by two priests from the age of nine. Fr Henry Maloney pleaded guilty to abusing Healy and another boy when they were both pupils at St Mary’s College in Dublin between 1969 and 1973. He was given a suspended sentence and was kept under strict supervision at Kimmage Manor.

Man jailed after Didcot boy was abused — A MAN who groomed and sexually abused a 14-year-old boy from Didcot has been jailed for two years and eight months by a judge at Oxford Crown Court. David Warner, from Chelmsford in Essex, admitted three counts of engaging in sexual activity with a child under 13 and one count of meeting a child following sexual grooming. Prosecutor Charles Ward-Jackson said the 35-year-old met up with his victim in Barton, Oxford, on October 11 last year after chatting to him on social networking site Skype.

Matt Sandusky talks about abuse by his father — The adopted son of Jerry Sandusky recalled Friday the moment he told his father he would refuse to testify as a defense witness at the former Pennsylvania State University assistant football coach’s 2012 child sex-abuse trial. Then 33, Matt Sandusky said, he drove to his father’s home, asked his mother to leave the room, and said something out loud that he had never fully acknowledged to himself.

New DOJ Data On Sexual Assaults: College Students Are Actually Less Likely To Be Victimized — A new report on sexual assault released today by the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) officially puts to bed the bogus statistic that one in five women on college campuses are victims of sexual assault. In fact, non-students are 25 percent more likely to be victims of sexual assault than students, according to the data. And the real number of assault victims is several orders of magnitude lower than one-in-five.

Police: Chandler boy forced to sleep outside for 1 1/2 months — A Chandler boy was forced by his father and stepmother to sleep and live in their backyard for at least one month over the summer as punishment for showing a lack of “basic respect,” a police report stated. The 16-year-old boy alleged he was locked out of his room and had to spend one-and-a-half months outside in the summer heat, often enduring rain and dust storms. He also alleged he had to use the yard as a restroom.

Self-harm hospital admissions among children ‘at five-year high’ — The number of children being admitted to hospital in England for self-harm is at a five-year high, figures show. Admissions of girls aged 10-14 increased by almost 93% – from 3,090 in 2009/10 to 5,953 in 2013/14 – with a rise of 45% in boys, from 454 to 659. Campaigners say the figures could be the tip of the iceberg and “huge numbers” of children – especially boys – were still “suffering in silence”. The government says £30m will be put into mental health care in A&E units.
