Domestic abuse: Men ‘need more help’, victims’ organisation says — The Men’s Advisory Project said it supported 536 clients in 2015 compared to 294 in 2013. But while victims often suffer similar hardship, it said the services available for men in Northern Ireland are less extensive than for women. One man who knows how difficult it can be to get help is Paul. Paul, whose name has been changed to protect his identity, walked away from his 25-year marriage after suffering physical, emotional and psychological abuse.

The Rev. Michael “Mitch” Walters, parochial vicar at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, also has given up two archdiocese-wide positions. Walters served as director of the Center for Ministerial Development, overseeing educational and spiritual enrichment programs for parishioners, and director of the Pontifical Mission Societies, which raises money for missionary and evangelical work.
Male abuse victims need help, too — International Islamic University of Malaysia Associate Professor Dr Shamrahayu Abdul Aziz really stirred up a hornet’s nest when she suggested the setting up of a special department to address domestic abuse faced by men recently. The “Men’s Affairs Department”, she had proposed, would help husbands deal with physical and mental abuse from their spouses, as she said there was no avenue for Malaysian men to seek help.

New support group for adult male survivors of sexual abuse in Plymouth — DAVID Ball, project worker with Operation Emotion, says there are four things which male survivors of sexual abuse need to talk about. The first is isolation. “They will have spent years believing, possibly because of what they have been told, that they are alone,” David says. “Being in a group, hearing, seeing and feeling that it has happened to other people, that is a major thing.” The second is powerlessness.

Segart Garth Lochead, a former Scots Guard, was told by a judge he had “exploited a young and vulnerable individual.” Lochead began chatting to the 13-year-old boy, who lived in St Helens, via a website and they had Skype conversations during which Lochead, who pretended to be 13, must have realised he was significantly younger than 16, said judge Elizabeth Nicholls.
The Shocking Ordeal of a Male Rape Survivor — Though male rapes are a reality, the issue has hardly been addressed in the Indian legal framework. When a 13-year-old was sodomised by three senior students behind his school almost three years ago, the Delhi government issued a plea to the Delhi High Court challenging the Delhi Victim Compensation Scheme for discriminating between male and female victims of rape. The plea sought enhancement of compensation provided to victims of child sexual abuse under the 2011 Delhi Victims Compensation Scheme.

Terence Bolton left an eight-year-old boy to suffer “week in week out” after he refused to reveal the abuse when he was jailed in 1999 for gross indecency and indecent assault against three other boys, aged 12, 11 and six.
Why Modern Feminism Does Nothing To Benefit Men — A few weeks ago, a video surfaced that made a few ripples around the internet, especially the various groups and pages I’m associated with that focus on gender issues. Not that that’s anything new, but sometimes videos are released that ride a wave of popularity and are used by both sides of the ‘gender war’ to highlight their points of view. This one was no different, enticing cheers of ‘totally’ and jeers of ‘absolutely not’ in equal measure.
