Figures show 1,200 men across West Mercia went to police after been domestically abused — NEARLY 1,200 men told police they were a victim of domestic abuse last year – but the true figure could be ten times as high. A total of 1,156 men in the West Mercia area reported they had been victims in 2014, an increase of 47 per cent from 2013. But according to the Home Office, only ten per cent of male victims will inform police, compared to 27 per cent of women, while 29 per cent will not tell anyone.
Former Iowa Boy Scout’s sexual abuse lawsuit settled — A lawsuit alleging that a West Des Moines Boy Scout leader abused a scout in the 1970s has been dismissed ahead of a trial that was set to begin in February. West Des Moines attorney Patrick Hopkins on Friday filed a notice dismissing the lawsuit on behalf of his anonymous client. The lawsuit claimed Hopkins’ client was abused by Troop 202 leader Kenneth L. Newell. Newell, who now lives in Cedar Rapids, has not been criminally charged.

He remained there for five years until he was returned to Ireland on a European Arrest Warrant. He later failed to show up for his trial before being caught and remanded in custody until sentencing. Women sought after man raped at gunpoint — Police are hunting for three women who allegedly raped a 21-year-old Diepsloot man on Sunday night. Diepsloot police spokesman Warrant Officer Daniel Mavimbela said the suspects were driving a white Toyota Tazz and found the victim at a tuckshop in Extension 12. “They pretended to be lost and asked the victim for directions. Suddenly, one of the suspects pointed a firearm at him,” Mavimbela said.
